tony gonzalez-5-1024x1024Anthony David Gonzalez was born on 27 February 1976 in Torrance, California. He was raised in southern California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School, where he was a star athlete on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez excelled at these games at University of California, Berkeley. He helped lead the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. Here, Gonzalez set the school record for bowl games with nine receptions. A few months later Gonzalez helped lead the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. After graduation from high school, he entered the 1997 NFL Draft. Gonzalez was picked as the 13th overall selection by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez was in the Chiefs between 1997 and 2008. The Chiefs traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. Beginning in his second year in the NFL the team never managed to catch less than 59 of them in a season.
